یکی از صفاتی که در آیات قرآن کریم و روایات اهل بیت علیهم السلام در مورد خداوند متعال به کار رفته، صفت «اراده» می باشد. در مرید بودن خدای متعال بین متکلمان و حکیمان اختلافی نیست؛ اما در تفسیر اراده خدا اختلاف وجود دارد. شیخ مفید در آثار متعدد کلامی خود، اراده الهی را صفتی حقیقی، لنفسه و ذاتی برای خداوند متعال ندانسته، بلکه صفتی مجازی، فعلی و خارج از ذات ارزیابی می‌کند و پرداختن به آن را از باب ورود در لسان شرع می‌داند؛ همانند صفات غضب، رضایت، حب و بغض که عقل اتصاف آنها برای خداوند متعال را نمی‌پذیرد. وی مانند متکلمین معتزلی بغداد هم عصر خود، اراده الهی را عبارت از نفس فعل الهی و مغایر با علم و قدرت می داند. نیز اراده را از همراهی با ذات و در مرتبه ذات بودن عزل می‌کند و همگام با روایات، آن را حادث و غیر ازلی می‌خواند، در حالی که علم و قدرت از صفات حقیقی و ذاتی خداوند نزد وی هستند. بداء در مرحله اراده تکوینی به صورت فعل اول (قبل از بداء) و فعل ثانی (پس از بداء) می باشد که هر دو، نفس فعل و مرحله ای از تکوین می باشد و از بداء در اراده تشریعی (امر به فعل حسن در تشریع) به نسخ تعبیر می شود. قدر و قضاء از نگاه وی بر اراده( نفس فعل) تقدم دارد. شیخ مفید همگام با معتزله بغداد، بخاطر عدم انتساب قبائح به خداوند، منکر شمول اراده تکوینی خداوند در همه امور بودند.

Imamate is one of the fundamental Islamic principles that many other principles are explained in the light of it. Just as the difference in the Imamate as a fundamental principle has caused some of the Islamic cults, differences in the attributes of the Imam have caused cults such as the Imamiyyah and Zaydiyah in the Shiite. Attributes such as armed uprising, infallibility, superiority, science, Imam's ancestry, and puberty are the most important differences between Imamiyyah and Zaydiyah. In this research, by using a rational method, revelation and historical narration is proven that Imamiyyah emphasizes on the unnecessity of the armed uprising of the Imam in any situation, and due to the infallibility and knowledge of the Imam, the consciousness and action of the uprising is up to the Imam. The absence of genuine Ansar, the fixed principle of preserving Islam and the right of the people, not personal rights, are the most important reasons for some Imams not to rise. But Zaydieh insists on the necessity of the Imam's armed uprising in any situation
